I am a lyricist in Kolkata, also write Bollywood lyrics. I started writing poems when I was in class 7 and simultaneously the musical journey also started with classical and Rabindra Sangeet classes. Then I started playing the guitar. Guitar was primarily self taught, playing different styles. I always had a thirst for knowledge and I would always be eager to learn, unlearn and relearn, as the saying goes. I played rhythm and was also a lead guitarist then. About playing bass, “eksomoy bassist pawar obhabey nijei bass guitar tule ni"... Since then I fell in love with the instrument...love at first touch.
I started playing with the renowned Ethno-Fusion band 'Gharana'...at major venues in India, like, Jaydev Bhavan (Bhubaneshwar), AfTrack event (Nagpur), Golmuri Club (Jamshedpur), Delhi International Arts fest (Delhi) and many more.
The turning point in my life came when I met Victor Wooten...my major inspiration. He taught me to see music from a completely different angle, to feel music from within, to feel the importance of silence. And that there are no wrong notes per say. I was a totally different person after meeting him and interacting with him one on one.
About my 1st meeting with my Guru, one day i got a call from Tukida (from 'Krosswindz). He said, "Kachuda is looking to for a bass player...he needs a clean soul and a dedicated and devoted person...I have referred your name." Thus I got introduced to the Maestro (late Monojit Datta). He has ever since been a father figure, a friend philosopher and guide. I have learnt life and wisdom from him and that has transformed me totally. I was happy, playing with my Guru's bands, 'Let the River Flow' and 'Clave Mantra'.
I believe in the mystic power of music and its potential to transform the world and create a better tomorrow for everyone. I have sacrificed my all for the greater cause. I have been through fire and back and I’m happy that I did. It made me stronger.
My inspiration - late Monojit Datta(my Guru), Indian Ocean, Victor Wooten and Yanni.
